Ravens Split With Fort Scott

The Coffeyville Red Raven softball team split a doubleheader with the Fort Scott Greyhounds on Wednesday at Byers Field in Coffeyville. Coffeyville won the first game 7-3, but dropped the nightcap 9-6.

In game one, Coffeyville scored five runs in the fifth inning to turn a 2-1 lead into a comfortable 7-1 advantage. Fort Scott rallied for two runs in the seventh inning, but starting pitcher Rachael Trapp closed the door to earn the complete game win. Trapp allowed two earned runs in her seven innings of work. Trapp allowed six hits and just one walk.

Jhoneecie Pulse had two of the six Raven hits including a double. Jordan Sutton added a triple and Cortney Brown stroked a double. Adriane Buntin, and RiAnne Bunnell had a single each.

Pulse drove in two runs. Trapp, Bunnell, BaeLee Gulley and Rebecca Mullen drove in a run each. Bailey Gray scored two runs and single runs were scored by Sutton, Pulse, Trapp and Brown.

In game two, Fort Scott jumped out to a 7-1 lead before the Ravens rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it a 7-5 contest. Fort Scott added two insurance runs in the seventh to make it 9-5. The Ravens managed to get a run across in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn't enough in the 9-6 defeat.

Pulse had two hits including a double. Buntin, Gray and Bunnell had a single each in game two. Sutton and Pulse scored two runs each and single tallies were scored by Buntin and Breanna Bill. Pulse, Gray and Trapp each drove in two runs.
