Red Raven Softball Lose Two at Highland

Highland, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Softball team traveled to Highland Community College this past weekend and lost both games of a doubleheader (8-0 and 3-2).  With the two losses, the Red Ravens' overall record moves to 1-7 including an 0-2 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) record.

The opening game had Highland score three in the second and then five in the fourth.  Coffeyville had four hits but was not able to score a run in the 8-0 defeat.  Raven freshman Gracee Hillburn went two for three in the game offensively for the Ravens.

The second game saw Highland score first with a run in the third inning.  The Ravens posted two runs in the top of the sixth inning to take the 2-1 lead.  However, the Scotties of Highland came right back scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead back 3-2.  The Ravens were not able to score in the top of the seventh and ended with the 3-2 defeat.  Offensively for the Ravens, freshmen Tyra Owl and Lauryn Adams both had two hits each, and freshmen Aryiel Herrera and Aaliyah Ahmed each had an RBI.  Freshman right-hander Regan Dry was on the mound for the Ravens going six innings allowing three runs on eight hits and striking out three.

Coffeyville will return to action with a doubleheader scheduled at Neosho County Community College on Thursday, March 25th.  Game times will be at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.
