Independence, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Softball Team opened up their 2021 season with a road doubleheader to Independence Kansas to play the Independence Community College Pirates. 

In the first game, Coffeyville lost 11-3.  The Ravens scored two runs out of the gates in the top of the first to take the lead.  However, Indy came back in the bottom of the second, scoring seven runs to take the 7-2 lead after two innings.  Coffeyville was able to score one more run in the top of the third, but it was not enough to hold off the Pirates in the 11-3 loss.

The second game of the doubleheader saw the Ravens build a 7-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning, however, the Ravens gave up 10 runs to the Pirates over the fifth and sixth innings to windup with the 11-8 loss.

The Ravens return to action with another road doubleheader to Eastern Oklahoma State University in Wilburton Oklahoma on Friday, March 12th.  Game times are set for 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.
