Red Ravens Take Two from Hesston

Hesston, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Softball Team grabbed victories in both games of a doubleheader against the Hesston Larks.  With the wins, the Ravens improve their overall record to 8-26.

Game #1,  9-7 Win 

Coffeyville got the game started in the first inning when Raven freshman catcher Gracee Hilburn homered on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.  

Coffeyville Community College Ravens Varsity tallied three runs in the second inning. The offensive firepower by the Ravens was led by freshmen Krislynne Mayes, Hilburn, and Addy Beck, all driving in runs in the frame.

The game was tied at seven with Coffeyville batting in the bottom of the sixth when Raven freshman Kyilee Chumley doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run to take the lead for good.

Raven freshman Aubrey Schroyer earned the victory in the pitcher's circle for Coffeyville. Schroyer surrendered seven runs on eight hits over five innings, walking one. Beck and freshman Cherie Green entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Beck recorded the last five outs to earn the save.

Game #2, 9-6 Win

The game was tied at six with the Red Ravens batting in the bottom of the seventh when freshman Maddie Tadrus homered on a 0-2 count, scoring three runs.

Coffeyville racked up 13 hits on the day. Freshmen Aryiel Herrera, Tadrus, Krislynne Mayes, Beck, and Gracee Hilburn all had multiple hits for the Red Ravens.

Raven sophomore Jaysa Wichers was the winning pitcher for Coffeyville. The ace went five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out two, and walking one. Aubrey Schroyer and Beck entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Schroyer recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Coffeyville.

The Ravens will return to action on Thursday, May 6th with a road doubleheader at Cloud County Community College.  Game times in Concordia Kansas set for 2:00 and 4:00 pm.
