Red Ravens Allow Hesston to Score Late in Both Games of Home Doubleheader

The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Softball team allowed the Hesston Larks to score late in both games as the Red Ravens lost both ends of the home doubleheader.

Game #1 - Red Ravens 4  Hesston 6

Sunday's game against Hesston College Larks Varsity was a heartbreaker for Red Ravens, as they lost the lead late in a 6-4 defeat.  The game was tied at four with Hesston College Larks Varsity batting in the top of the seventh when Emma Killingsworth singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
 
Red Ravens took an early lead in the second inning when an error scored one run for Red Ravens.
 
After Hesston College Larks Varsity scored one run in the top of the third, Red Ravens answered with one of their own.  Hesston College Larks Varsity scored when Madison Gonzales singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.  Red Ravens then answered when Summer McAlister grounded out, scoring one run.
 
Killingsworth got the start for Hesston College Larks Varsity. Killingsworth went seven innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out three.
 
Justina Raye was in the pitcher's circle for Red Ravens. Raye went six and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on six hits and striking out six.
 
Red Ravens smacked one home run on the day. Raye had a four-bagger in the second inning.
 
Alex Ginnis went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Red Ravens in hits.
 
Game #2 - Red Ravens 3  Hesston 4
 
In the second game of the afternoon, the Red Ravens again lost the lead late in a 4-3 defeat to Hesston College Larks Varsity on Sunday.  The game was tied at three with Hesston College Larks Varsity batting in the top of the seventh when Madison Gonzales singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.
 
Red Ravens got things started in the first inning.  Alex Ginnis hit a solo homer.
 
Hannah Williams was in the pitcher's circle for Hesston College Larks Varsity. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out seven.
 
Joe Airington toed the rubber for Red Ravens. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing four runs on nine hits and striking out five.
 
Red Ravens launched two home runs on the day. Lainey Hardman had a homer in the second inning. Ginnis had a four-bagger in the first inning.
 
Ginnis went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Red Ravens in hits.
 
Coffeyville will return to action on Thursday, April 20th as they will travel to Fort Scott Kansas to play a doubleheader against the Greyhounds of Fort Scott Community College.  Game times are set for 2:00 and 4:00 pm.
