Walk Off Sac Fly Propels Raven Softball Over Hutchinson

The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven softball team won the first game of a home double header against the Hutchinson Blue Dragons.  The Red Ravens won a close first game 1-0 on a walk off sac fly, but lost the second game 9-2.

The split moves the Red Ravens overall record to 12-34 and puts their KJCCC record at 3-19.

In game one with the score knotted at zeros in the bottom of the seventh inning, Red Raven freshmen Alyssa Dawson connected on a walk off sac fly to the outfield to score freshmen Raini Deeringwater for the game's only run.

Dawson was also a game changer on the mound for Coffeyville pitching all seven innings allowing 0 runs on 4 hits while striking out 2.

In game two, The Red Ravens were able to carry over the momentum from game one and scored 2 runs in the bottom of the second to take a 2-0 lead.  However, Hutchinson was able to crack onto the scoreboard with a run in the top of the sixth which opened the flood gates for the Blue Dragons for another 8 runs in the top of the seventh.  Coffeyville was not able to muster any further runs and lost the second game 9-2 in seven innings.

The Red Ravens had 6 hits in game two with sophomore RiAnne Bunnell and freshmen Angela Nixon both going 2 for 3 in the game with Nixon knocking in both of the runs in the second inning.

Sophomore Jaycee Forth was on the mound for the Red Ravens and she also went seven innings allowing 9 runs on 11 hits while striking out 6.

Coffeyville returns to action with a road double header against Crowder College in Neosho Missouri.  The double header is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19th with game times set for 2:00 and 4:00 pm.
