Red Raven Men's Track place 10th, Women 29th at NJCAA Outdoor Nationals.  Anthony Woods Wins Long Jump National TItle

Hobbs, New Mexico - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's and Women's Track and Field teams competed at the 2023 NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs New Mexico on May 18-20th.  The Red Raven Men's team placed 10th overall with 36 points while the Women's team placed 29th with 3 points.

The Red Raven Track teams set a total of three school records (Men's 400, Women's High Jump, and Men's Discuss) over the course of the three-day Championship.

In discussing the team's performances, head Coffeyville track coach Robert Wood said that he was "extremely happy with how both teams competed at the National Championships".  Wood went on to say that "These Nationals were an extremely fast Championships.  It took a 10.24 in the Men's 100 meters just to make the finals.  Johnathan Crawford broke our school record in the Men's 400 by running 46.65 and was not able to score as he placed ninth!"

Red Raven scoring performances:

Red Raven sophomore Anthony Woods jumped his personal best of 7.86 meters (25' 9.50") in the Long Jump to earn first place and the 2023 NJCAA Outdoor Long Jump National Title.  Woods earned a second All-American title at the Championships by placing fifth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 15.33 meters (50' 3.5").

Coffeyville freshman Trevor Gunzell set the new school record in the Men's Discuss with a toss of 61.24 meters (200'11") to earn an All-American second place.  Gunzell earned a second All-American title Outdoor as he also placed third in the Shot Put with a mark of 17.68 meters (58' 0.25").

Red Raven women's freshman Gartasia Crawely reset the record book in the Women's High Jump with her jump of 1.67 meters (5' 5.75") to earn an All-American sixth place.

Sophomore Garrian Betts earned an All-American nod in the Men's Triple Jump by placing sixth with a jump of 15.13 meters (49' 7.75").

Coffeyville freshman Baylor Thornton placed sixth and earned his All-American spot in the Javelin with a toss of 51.86 meters (170' 2").

Red Raven sophomore Nakoah Witt placed eighth and earned Alll-American status in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 52.35.

Coffeyville's Men's 4x400 meter relay team of Michael Mejia, Johnathan Crawford, Lenard Harris, and Nakoah Witt ran a five-second season best of 3:10.71 to place in eighth place. 

The Red Ravens Women's 4x100 meter relay team of Gartasia Crawely, Teonia Whitelow, Takiria Brown, and Jalia Bunn placed eighth with a time of 46.78.

After the meet, it was also announced that Coffeyville assistant coach DJ Lilly had been named the USTFCCCA/NJCAA Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
