Scott Pitt

Offensive Lineman (1996-97)

Scott Pitt has been a sports fanatic since he was young.  Football quickly became his passion.  Scott’s gift on the offensive line did not come without sweat. In the 10th grade Scott said, “I was one of the biggest guys in the weight room with the lowest lifting weight on the team.” Instead of letting this shame him out of the locker room, Scott got to work on a solid weight gain of 60 pounds by the end of his junior year of high school. His dedication and willingness to learn paid off when he was recruited to play football at Coffeyville as an offensive lineman—left guard under former head football coach and the offensive line’s position coach, Skip Foster.

Scott’s accomplishments at Coffeyville include: winning the Jayhawk conference championship, playing in the 1996 season national championship, and starting every game for the Red Ravens at left guard.  He was part of an offensive line which was the number one rushing team statistically in the country. As a freshman he received All Conference Second Team Honors. As a sophomore he was unanimously voted team captain, and the Jayhawk Conference’s number one offensive lineman. That year the Red Ravens produced two 1,000 yard rushers, and once again landed at the top of national statistics. He received First Team All American honors for the NJCAA and Second Team Offensive Lineman honors for the JC Grid Wire.  Scott finished his education and college football career at Murray State University where he played in the conference championship both years and started every game at left guard. As a senior, he was named to the Ohio Valley Conference honorable mention team on offense. He graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology and was hired by Flintco Inc. Today, Scott is a project manager for Flintco. This year he completed the company’s largest project to date, a $250 million casino/hotel/resort in Durant, Oklahoma.

Despite his athletic and occupational accolades Scott’s greatest accomplishments are his family. He has been married to Amanda for five year and has one child, Emmaline Delaney Pitt. Scott and Amanda love to travel and are involved as leaders in their local church.

The impact of Coffeyville football remains an integral part of who Scott is today. “I understand now that starting my college life as a Red Raven under Coach Skip Foster helped shape me not only into the athlete that I was, but into the man that I have become, the man that I will be to my family, and to society through the positive impact I hope to have in my daily life,” Scott said. “Although football has become a sport that I follow, rather than one I play everyday, with its wins and losses football is like life, and the impact of the game will always be a part of who I am.”
