Red Ravens Grounded vs Ellsworth

Ellsworth Community 30 Coffeyville 16 (0-2; 0-1 conf.)

Ellsworth Community Panthers traveled to Veterans Memorial Stadium to compete against the Red Ravens Saturday September 2nd.  Looking to bounce back from their performance against Hutchinson, the Red Ravens were looking to get the season back on track.  That idea was quickly shaken.

Instead of coming out with a fire, the Red Ravens looked as if they were still feeling the affect of the week before.  The offense struggled to put together successful drives which forced quick three and outs.  These short offensive possessions led to the defense being on the field far too long.  All-in-all, the Panthers dominated the time of possession 36:52 to 23:08.  Keeping the defense on the field that long certainly wore the players down.

Ellsworth put up a total of 528 offensive yards with 341 coming on the ground.

The Red Ravens showed offensive life as red shirt freshman Justin Henderson broke for a 60 yard touchdown run (giving him 4 touchdowns on the season).  After a wild snap for the point after attempt, Cooper Lee gathered the ball and his composure and threw a perfect pass to Layke Hoffman for the two point conversion.

Quarterback Mo Hasan added a 1 yard touchdwon run followed by a pass to the back corner of the endzone for another two point conversion.

The Red Ravens look to bounce back against conference opponent Butler Communicty College Saturday, September 9th at 7:00pm.
