#9 Red Raven Football Travel to #19 Highland, Lose 10-48

The #9 Coffeyville Community College Red Raven football team traveled to Highland, Kansas to take on the #19 Scotties and lost 10-48.

The loss moves the Red Ravens overall record to 6-4 on the season and a 2-4 conference record.

The Red Ravens came out early and seemed to take control.  Coffeyville took the opening kickoff and marched down the field in a 8 play, 68 yard drive capped off by a 3 yard touchdown run by sophomore Antwan Barksdale.  After the Cooper Lee extra point, and with barely 3 minutes gone in the game, the Red Ravens led 7-0.

However, it would not be the Red Ravens day.  On their first possession, Highland took their turn with a long march (10 plays, 72 yards) capped off by a 8 yard touchdown pass.  The extra point was missed and the Red Ravens still lead 7-6 midway through the first quarter.

Highland's defense stiffened and Coffeyville was not able to move the ball on their subsequent possession and had to punt it back to the Scotties.

The Scotties took advantage and scored quickly on a 33 yard touchdown pass.  A successful two point conversion and Highland was on top 14-7.

The Red Ravens did convert on a 21 yard Cooper Lee field goal midway through the second quarter to pull within 10-14, but Highland quickly answered with a kick-off return for a touchdown and a touchdown pass to end the first half with a 28-10 lead over the Red Ravens.

In the second half Coffeyville was not able to gain any offensive traction and the game ended in favor of the Scotties, 48-10.

Statistical leaders for the Red Ravens include freshmen running back Leonard Green with 41 rushing yards, sophomore quarterback Coleman Key was 15-40 for 163 yards and zero touchdowns and two interceptions.  Sophomore wide receiver Terry Wright had 66 reception yards.

Coffeyville returns home for their last regular season game of the year.  The Ravens will battle the Independence Pirates at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday, November 12th at 7:00 pm.
