Rob Walton

Defensive Back (1986-87)

Rob Walton grew up in a football family. He played football for his father at Topeka West High School. Rob was a three-year letter winner in football and a four-year letter winner in wrestling. He was named to the All-City football team, All I-70 football team, and was 1st team All State football team Class 6A in 1985.

Rob was a 1st place medal winner in I-70 League wrestling and 3rd place finisher at the State wrestling meet 155 lb. class. Rob graduated from Topeka West in 1986. In September of 2014, Rob was inducted into the Topeka West Athletics Hall of Fame.

While attending Topeka West, Rob was recruited by Dick Foster to attend Coffeyville Community College. While playing Free Safety at Coffeyville Community College, Rob earned unanimous First Team All-Conference and First Team All American by both the Grid Wire and the NJCAA. He was also recognized by the coaching staff as the Most Valuable Player, all while remaining an honor student.

After Coffeyville Community College, Rob went on to play for Northwestern University where he was named
Newcomer of the year in 1988. Rob earned his degree in Communication Studies with a minor Economics from Northwestern University.

Since graduating from Northwestern, Rob has worked in the commercial insurance industry. He started his own
agency and recently sold it to Power Group/Cretcher Heartland Companies. Rob is currently the Vice President of risk services for Power Group/Cretcher Heartland Companies.

Rob and his wife of twenty three years, Gretchen live in Overland Park, Kansas. They have 2 children; Marisa
and Cooper. In his free time, Rob enjoys racing cars. He travels across the country racing with Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).
