Keith Houfek

All-American Offensive Lineman (1977-1978)

Keith Houfek grew up in the Kansas City area and attended Shawnee Mission North High School where he was an outstanding student-athlete.  Keith played for the Red Ravens in 1977 and 1978.  He started every game at center and led his team to a 10-1 record his sophomore year.  He was selected First Team All-American by both the NJCAA and the Grid Wire.  He was elected Honorary Captain and received the President’s Trophy, two of the highest honors a Raven can receive.

Keith finished his academic career at the University of Arkansas where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration.  His professional career started in Dallas, TX, where he worked for a pharmaceutical company and found he had a talent for sales.  Keith later went to work for Cartier, the international jewel company.  He worked for Cartier for 15 years and was a member of the sales force, which pioneered the marketing of Cartier products in the United States.  Last year he went to work for Bulgari, an Italian jewelry company.  He is currently responsible for all Bulgari sales west of the Mississippi.

The first week he arrived in Dallas, Keith met his wife, Kathy, who Keith says, “...in my adult years she has been my greatest motivator and mentor.”  Keith and Kathy, a registered nurse, have lived in the Dallas area for the last 19 years.  Keith says, “...our real hobby is juggling all our schedules...,” including those of their three boys, 16-year old Nick, 13-year old Alex, and Daniel, who is nine.

Raven fans will always remember Keith Houfek with his mild manner, but great competitive spirit as a Red Raven.
