Darren Cooley

All-American Defensive Tackle (1990)

Darren Cooley was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He attended Windsor Hill Baptist High School where he was a blue-chip football player and a national champion powerlifter. Darren signed a Division I scholarship out of high school, but later transferred to Coffeyville in 1989. In 1990, he played on the Red Raven national champion football team. While at Coffeyville, Darren was selected to the NJCAA All-American Team, and he recorded more QB sacks than any defensive tackle to play for the Ravens. After leaving Coffeyville, Darren attended the University of Arkansas on a football scholarship.

Darren later founded The Athlete’s Course, Inc., where high school athletic directors would contract his business to conduct an off-season strength and speed development program. At one point, Darren conducted his courses in over 200 high schools in the state of Texas. Darren still has a few schools involved in his company, but his focus is on coaching, teaching and his family. He and his wife Cristy live with their three children, Madison, Austin and Cash in Granbury, Texas.

“The strong character traits that the coaching staff at Coffeyville taught and modeled helped mold me into a young man,” said Darren. “For this, I am indebted to my time spent at Coffeyville Community College.”
