Darrell Shropshire

Defensive Lineman (2001-2002)

Darrell Shropshire was born in Lancaster, South Carolina, to parents Calvin and Jeanette Mickle Shropshire. He was the fourth child in a family of six. Darrell attended Andrew Jackson High School located in Kershaw, South Carolina where he excelled in all sports. He decided to continue his football career at Coffeyville Community College before transferring to the University of South Carolina.

Darrell began playing recreation football at a very young age.  Through dedication and hard work both on and off the field, Darrell was awarded a scholarship to CCC after graduating from high school.

While playing for the Ravens, Darrell continued his athletic and academic success by breaking several records and being honored on the Dean’s List.  While playing under Coach Jeff Leiker, Darrell earned many honors including: First-team Junior College All-American, 2002 Defensive MVP of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference, and rated the #7 prospect in the SuperPrep JUCO Top 100. Darrell recorded 54 tackles and six sacks his freshman season, and posted 67 tackles and six sacks his sophomore season.  After being scouted by several Division I universities, Darrell chose the University of South Carolina over Tennessee, Florida, and Auburn.

Darrell began his career at the University of South Carolina in 2002 after graduating from CCC, where he continued to grow academically and athletically.

In 2005, Darrell was drafted into the NFL by the Atlanta Falcons.  In his NFL career, he played in 23 games, had 14 tackles, 21 combined tackles, 7 assisted tackles, and 3 sacks.

In 2008 after his NFL career, Darrell went on to play in the AFL with the Arizona Rattlers.

Other than his love of football, Darrell also enjoys spending time with his daughter, Arianna Shropshire. Darrell also loves giving back to the community by participating in local programs aimed at helping children. Darrell has participated in charity events including the George Rogers Golf Foundation and Walk for Ryan KLS Foundation.
