Brandon Jacobs

Running Back (2001-02)

Brandon Jacobs played for former Red Raven Head Coach Jeff Leiker in 2001 and 2002. Brandon rushed for 1,349 yards his freshman season and followed that up with a 20 TD and 1,896 yard rushing campaign his sophomore season to earn JC Gridwire All-American honors. He earned honorable mention all-conference accolades as a freshman and first team honors as a sophomore. He ranks second on the all-season rushing charts at Coffeyville with his 1,896 yard rushing season and he ranks first in career rushing at Coffeyville with 3,245 yards. Brandon was named team MVP both his years at Coffeyville.

Originally from Napoleonville, Louisiana, Brandon played basketball and football at Assumption High School. His senior year of high school, he ran for more than 3,000 yards and scored 38 touchdowns. Brandon was recognized that year as a USA Today All-American, Orlando Sentinel All-Southern, and Louisiana Class 4A Most Valuable Player.

After finishing his first two seasons of college football at Coffeyville, Brandon continued his career at Auburn University. Brandon gained 446 yards on 72 carries and two touchdowns as a junior in 2003 for the Tigers. After the completion of the 2003 college football season, Brandon transferred to then Division 1-AA Southern Illinois. Brandon’s one year at Southern Illinois was another solid one. He led the team with 150 carries for 992 yards (6.6 avg.) and 19 touchdowns,one less than the school’s all-time leader, Muhammad Abdulqaadir, who, like Brandon, also played at Coffeyville Community College. Brandon was an All-American first-team selection by The NFL Draft Report and All-Gateway Conference first-team choice and was also named Gateway Conference Newcomer of the Year. He led the conference and ranked tenth in the nation in scoring, averaging 9.5 points per game. Brandon had eight receptions for 83 yards (10.4 avg.), returned six kickoffs for 140 yards (23.3 avg.) and had five 100-yard rushing games including the playoffs.

In 2005, Brandon was a fourth round NFL Draft pick by the New York Giants. He played for the New York Giants for seven seasons before signing with the San Francisco 49ers in 2012. Jacob returned to New York for his final season and retired in 2014. During his NFL career, Jacob’s was a two-time Super Bowl Champion (XLII, XLVI), two-time NFC Champion (2007, 2011), and NFC Offensive Player of the Month in October 2007. Throughout his NFL career, Brandon rushed for a total of 5,094 yards and 60 touchdowns.
