Muhammad Abdulqaadir

Running Back (2000-2001)

Muhammad caught the attention of college football coaches after starring for Eureka High School in St. Louis, Mo. He rushed for more than 4,000 yards and 60 TDs in his career. He was a Prep Star All-American as a senior when he rushed for 1,977 yards and 33 TDs and also made All-State, All-Conference, and All-Metro teams.

Muhammad played two seasons for the Ravens. As a freshman in 2000, Abdulqaadir was named Outstanding Freshman after rushing for 1,130 yards and 15 TDs. He set a school single-game record by rushing for 381 yards on just 22 carries against Fort Scott, breaking fellow Hall of Famer Ron Springs’ record. The following season, Abdulqaadir was named an honorable mention JC Gridwire All-American after rushing for 771 yards and 16 TDs before his season was cut short after seven games with an injury.

Muhammad (“Mo” and “Franchise” were his nicknames) was the gel that bound the team and the catalyst which inspired all he played with. He was known for his long runs, great character, “coachability” on the field, and for friendships built off the field with his teammates. He is a great role model to his family.

Following CCC, Muhammad played two seasons for Southern Illinois, rushing for 2,372 yards and 32 TDs in 19 games for the Salukis. Muhammad graduated from SIU with a B.A. degree.
