Red Raven Volleyball Wins District A Title, Punches Ticket to Defend NJCAA Titles in West Virginia

The Coffeyville Community College women's volleyball team defeated Kansas City Community College and Johnson County to win the NJCAA Plains District A Championship on Saturday.  The win qualifies the Ravens to attend the NJCAA Div II Volleyball National Championship Tournament being held in Charleston WV on November 21-23rd.  The Red Ravens will be going for their third straight NJCAA National Title.

The Red Ravens faced Kansas City Community in the first match of the District A Championships.  After winning the first two sets (25-16 and 25-19), Coffeyville relaxed a bit in the third set and KCK was able mount a semi-comeback winning the third set 25-20 to put a little pressure on the Ravens.  However, in the fourth set the Ravens came back to life and put the match away winning the set 25-20.

Top Raven players against KCK included sophomores Faith Simpson with a 28 kill 11 dig double double and Seliann Concepcion with a 12 kill and 24 dig double double.

In the District A Championship match, Coffeyville faced Johnson County (Johnson defeated Cowley earlier in the day to advance to Championship match).  After losing a set in the earlier match against KCK, the #2 NJCAA ranked Red Ravens came out focused and quickly took control of the match, sweeping Johnson in three sets (25-22, 18, & 19).

Coffeyville's Seliann Concepcion had 6 kills, 18 digs, and 3 service aces to go along with sophomore Danielle Dodge's 28 digs to lead the Red Ravens to the Championship match victory.

With the win, Coffeyville will be returning to the NJCAA Div II National Volleyball Tournament in Charleston West Virginia on November 21-23rd where the two time defending National Champion Red Ravens look to extend their streak of Div II Volleyball National Championships to three.
