Red Raven Baseball Splits Opening Day Doubleheader

The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Baseball Team split their spring 2021 opening day doubleheader.  The Red Ravens traveled to the University of Central Oklahoma JUCO Spring Festival where they played Northern Oklahoma College-Enid in the opening game and NEO in the second game.  The Ravens defeated NOC-Enid 10-3 in the first game and lost 14-0 against NEO in the second game.

Against NOC-Enid, the Ravens jumpstarted the season quickly scoring four runs in their very first inning of the year.  From there, Coffeyville held a 6-2 lead through six innings and then scored another four runs in the seventh inning to blow the game open and cruise to the 10-3 nine-inning victory.

Top performers for the Ravens against NOC-Enid included redshirt freshman Jayden Kay who went 3 for 5 at the plate including a double and scored two runs.  Raven sophomore Trey McClelland went 2 for 4 with a double and a home run along with two RBI's.  Redshirt freshman Riley Higgins went 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI.

Raven left-hand freshman Chat Hayes got the win (1-0) on the mound for Coffeyville pitching five innings strong allowing five hits and two runs while striking out six.

The second game of the day saw Coffeyville fall 14-0 in five innings to NEO of Miami Oklahoma.

The offense the Ravens had from game one against NOC-Enid dried up with the Ravens not able to score a run against NEO.

Coffeyville will return to action this coming Wednesday, February 24th with a doubleheader scheduled in Bartlesville Oklahoma against the Oklahoma Wesleyan JV.  Game times are set for 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
