Red Raven Volleyball Earns Home Playoff Spot with 3-1 Defeat of Fort Scott

Fort Scott, Kan. - The dominos fell just right for the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Volleyball Team on Wednesday night.  Coffeyville needed two dominos to fall in just a particular order for them to host a first-round playoff game.

First up the Red Ravens traveled to Fort Scott Kansas to play the Fort Scott Community College Greyhounds in their last regular season matchup.   The Ravens needed a win.  The Red Ravens checked off the first domino with a gritty 3-1 victory over the Greyhounds. 

Secondly, Coffeyville needed Neosho County to lose in their Wednesday night home matchup against Johnson County.  The second domino fell when Neosho was swept 3-0 by the Cavaliers. 

With the Ravens' victory and Neosho's loss, Coffeyville will host a first-round District Playoff matchup on Wednesday, November 2nd.  Coffeyville's opponent in the first round will be released on Friday, Oct 28th as the lower seeds in KJCCC East are still being figured out.

Against the Greyhounds of Fort Scott, Coffeyville jumped out quickly taking the first two sets 25-19 and 25-13.  Fort Scott came back taking the third set 25-20 and then Coffeyville put the match away taking the fourth set 25-15 to earn the 3-1 match victory.

Coffeyville had three players in double figures in kills with freshman Sarah Madsen leading the way with 17 while sophomore Nicole Soto had 13 and freshman Alexcia Jones had 10.  Defensively, the Red Ravens were outstanding with five (5!) players hitting double digits on digs.  Freshman libero Patience Whittaker led the team with 35 digs while Alexcia Jones followed with 25.  Sarah Madsen (18), freshman Alyssa Apel (17), and freshman Taylor Burns (16) rounded out the five.
