Red Raven Volleyball Explodes for Three Victories in Home Quadrangular

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Volleyball Team exploded for three victories this past Saturday in their home quadrangular.   The Red Ravens scored a 3-0 victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan JV, a 3-2 victory over Southeast Community College, and a 3-2 come from behind victory over the Labette Cardinals.  With the three victories, Coffeyville improves their overall schedule to 6-7 which includes a 1-3 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matches.

The first victory this past Saturday was against the Oklahoma Wesleyan JV.  The Ravens swept the OKWU JV by scores of 25-13, 25-17, and 27-25.  The early victory seemed to fire up the team and set the tone for the next two matches.

The second match of the day was against Southeast Community College.  This was a rematch of an earlier match on the season that the Ravens had lost 3-0.  In this match, the Ravens wanted some payback and that is exactly what they got.  With scores of 25-13, 23-25, 25-20, 23-25, and a final set score of 15-9, Coffeyville earned the payback five-set victory.

The last match of the day saw the Red Ravens in a KJCCC matchup against the Labette Cardinals.  In another hard-fought five-setter, Coffeyville stormed back from a 0-2 set hole against the Cardinals to earn their first KJCCC victory of the year with scores of 18-25, 24-26, 25-20, 25-22, and 15-11 in the fifth set.

Coffeyville will look to continue the win streak with a road game to Metropolitan Community College on September 14th with first-serve scheduled for 6:00 pm in Omaha Nebraska.
