Red Raven Volleyball Suffers a Close 3-2 KJCCC Defeat at Allen County

Iola, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Volleyball Team traveled to Iola Kansas for their first road Kansas Jayhawk Community Conference (KJCCC) game of the season.  Coffeyville came up on the wrong side of the match losing 3-2 to the Red Devils of Allen County.  With the loss, the Red Raven's overall record falls to 3-6 including an 0-2 mark in KJCCC play.

The match started out on the right foot for the Ravens as they earned a hard-fought 27-25 first set victory.  Coffeyville was able to carry the intensity into the second set, however, the Ravens were not able to get the second set victory, losing the second set in a slim 26-24 score.  Allen quickly took the third set, defeating the Ravens 25-9.  Coffeyville rallied back in the fourth set, forcing a fifth set with a 25-21 fourth set victory.

The fifth and deciding set saw both teams remain close but the Red Devils pulled away late in the set for the 15-12 fifth set victory and the 3-2 defeat for the Red Ravens.

Match leaders for Coffeyville included sophomore middle blocker Hannah Armstrong who crushed a match leading 25 kills to go with her 27.5 points.  Red Raven sophomore setter Heather Stiles racked up 32 assists and libero Paola Molina led the defense with 20 digs.  

In a Devil-themed week, Coffeyville will return to action with a home match against the Blue Devils of Kansas City Community College on Wednesday, September 8th with the first serve scheduled for 6:30 pm in Nellis East Gymnasium.
