Red Raven Track & Field Compete at NJCAA Indoor National Meet, Mustafa Fall Wins Shot Put National Title

The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's & Women's Track teams competed this past weekend at the NJCAA National Indoor Championships held in Lynchburg Virginia.

The Red Raven Men's team earned a 7th place finish at the national meet with a team score of 33 points while the Women's team earned a 13th place finish with 13 points.

Red Raven sophomore Mustafa Fall (Suva Fiji) was the top finisher for Coffeyville's Men, winning a Shot Put national title with a school-record (and Fiji national record) toss of 18.35 meters or 60 feet 2.5 inches.  Fall edged out Courtney Lawrence from Cloud County for the victory.  In talking about Fall, Head Raven Track Coach Robert Wood said, "Mustafa worked his tail off and did all the right training...when you do that, this is what happens".  Freshman Dennis Ahene-Adu (Toronto Canada) also earned team points for the Ravens in the Shot Put, placing fourth in the competition with a put of 16.22 meters.

Other Raven top performers on the men's side included sophomore Chris Banks (Edmond OK) and freshman James Bell (Newark NJ) going 7th (2.05m, 6'8.5") and 8th (2.00m, 6'6.5") in the High Jump and sophomore James Brown (Atlanta GA) and freshman Henry Kiner (Humble TX) earning a 3rd (7.37m, 24'2") and an 8th place (23'4") in the Long Jump.  Freshman Kiner also earned a 7th place in the Triple Jump (14.57m, 47'8").  Mustafa Fall in addition to his Shot Put National Title also placed 7th in the Weight Throw (15.95m, 52'3.5").  Coffeyville's 4x400 relay all sophomore team of Destine Scott (Little Rock AR), Tristan Lavan (Houston TX), Josh Moore (Vanceboro NC), and Jaiden Ventour (Bensalem PA) earned a 5th place finish in 3:15.07.

The Red Raven women's team earned points in three events.  Freshman Brittany Reece (Jay OK) placed 8th in the High Jump (1.61m, 5'3.5").  Sophomore Nu'uauasala (Oceanside CA) placed 5th in the Shot Put (14.67m, 48'1.75).  Sophomore Nelia Simeon (Miami FL) and freshman Kristina Tchoumak (Toronto Canada) placed 4th (16.61, 54'6") and 8th (15.22, 49'11") respectively in the women's weight throw.
