Red Raven Women's Soccer Finish Regular Season With 2-1 Defeat of KCK

Kansas City, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Women's Soccer Team traveled to Kansas City Kansas, and defeated Kansas City Kansas Community College 2-1 in the final regular-season Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matchup of 2021.  With the victory, the Red Ravens end the 2021 regular season with a 10-7 overall record including an 8-5 KJCCC record.  The 8-5 KJCCC record placed the Ravens second in the KJCCC East division.

Against KCK the Ravens opened up the scoring ten minutes into the match with freshman Katie Burfoot taking a nice assist from sophomore Mediatrix Masiga and netting the first goal of the game.  Later in the first half, KCK was able to break through the Ravens' backline and net the equalizer.  

The teams went into halftime knotted up at 1-1.

Early in the second half, Red Raven sophomore Emily Hannah took it upon herself to grab the lead with an unassisted goal to give Coffeyville the 2-1 lead.  The Red Raven defense stiffened up for the remainder of the match and Coffeyville earned the 2-1 victory.

With the second-place finish in the KJCCC east, Coffeyville will host an opening-round Region VI playoff game.  The Ravens will host the KJCCC West third-place team, the Hutchinson Blue Dragons.  The Region VI opening-round game is scheduled for Monday, November 1st at 3:00 at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Coffeyville Kansas.
