Red Ravens Defeat Metropolitan 2-1 in OT

Coffeyville, Kan. - On an afternoon where the Ravens honored their sophomores, the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Soccer Team defeated the Metropolitan Community College Huskies 2-1 in overtime.  With the victory, the Red Ravens' overall record moves to 9-6 including a 7-4 mark in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference games.  The 7-4 KJCCC mark has Coffeyville currently in second place in the five-team KJCCC East division.

The Red Ravens and the Huskies had a defensive struggle for most of the match with all the scoring coming in the last ten minutes of regulation and overtime. 

Coffeyville struck first at the 80:50 mark of the match with Raven freshman Alia Jaidi taking a nice assist from freshman Caterina La Manna and placing it in the back of the net to give Coffeyville the 1-0 lead with just under ten minutes to go.  

Metropolitan pressed the offense and was able to crack the Red Raven backline and net the equalizer in the 89th minute of the match.  

Coffeyville opened up the overtime period quickly and secured the victory when freshman Ashleigh Sweat netted the game winner with a nice assist from La Manna.

Coffeyville will return to action this coming Wednesday, October 20th with a home game scheduled against the #14 NJCAA ranked Butler Grizzlies.  Gametime is set for 5:00 at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
