Red Ravens Pick up 1-0 Victory over KCK

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Soccer Team picked up a 1-0 home victory over the Blue Devils of Kansas City Kansas Community College.  With the victory the Ravens extend the 2021 overall record to 6-4 including a 5-2 mark in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matches.  The 5-2 conference mark currently has the Ravens in second place in the five team KJCCC Div I East standings behind Butler's 7-0 conference record.

The match started off with both teams fighting hard and neither team wanting to give up any early goals.  Coffeyville's backline and midfield did well-covering spaces and did not allow the Blue Devils any space to gain momentum.  The teams went into halftime knotted up at 0-0.

The second half saw the Ravens draw first blood (50th min) with a nice goal by freshman Alia Jaidi who took freshman Grace Higgins' redirected corner kick and placed it into the side netting to give Coffeyville the 1-0 lead.

Coffeyville's defense clamped down with Coffeyville's freshman goalkeeper Catriona Burns turning away two Blue Devil goal opportunities and the Ravens were able to run the clock out for the 1-0 Raven victory.

Coffeyville will return to action this Saturday, Oct 2nd with a home tilt against the Conquistadors of Dodge City.  The kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
