Kansas City, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Soccer Team traveled to Undefeated #9 NJCAA ranked Kansas City Kansas Community College and lost 5-1.  With the loss, the Red Ravens' overall record falls to 4-3.  The 4-3 record currently has them fourth in the ten-team Division I Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference standings.

Coffeyville came into this game with some tired legs being that this was the third game in five days for the Ravens.

The Lady Red Ravens had a slow start to the game and struggled to keep possession. Kansas City Kansas CC did well to move the ball and attack the Lady Red Raven defense. Despite the slow start from Coffeyville, they defended well and kept the Blue Devils from scoring. In the 17th minute, Kansas City Kansas broke through the Coffeyville defense and scored their first goal. This gave the Blue Devils the momentum they needed as they went on to score another 3 goals before the end of the half. Coffeyville could not find an answer and the first half ended 4-0.

Coffeyville made adjustments and started off the second half much stronger than the first. The Lady Red Ravens were able to put the Blue Devils under pressure and not allow them time on the ball. This helped Coffeyville win back possession and keep the Blue Devils away from their goal. In the 60th minute, the Lady Red Ravens went down to 10 players as freshman Emily Hannah received her second yellow card which ejected her from the game. Even though Coffeyville went down a woman, they kept their energy and continued to play well. The Lady Red Ravens were rewarded for their efforts as sophomore Louise Atkinson scored to make it a 4-1 game. Coffeyville pushed extra players forward into the attack to try to get another goal back. Kansas City Kansas took advantage of this and scored one last goal before the end of the game with KCK defeating the Ravens 5-1.

Coffeyville now has a week to recover and bounce back with their next game being on Wednesday, April 28th in a home matchup against Johnson County. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 pm.
