Originally from Olive, Oklahoma, McBride played basketball for Fort Scott Community College from 2013-2015.  McBride served as the team captain and set the career assist record with 213 assists in 2 years, including the record for most assists in one game at 14 assists.

After her Junior College career McBride transferred to Southwestern Christian University. Sierra medically redshirted the 2015-2016 season and then became a student assistant 2016-2017 where the team competed at the National Christian College Athletic Association's national tournament. After receiving her Bachelor's Degree she began coaching at Holy Names University in Oakland, California, where she spent two years as an Assistant Coach.

 McBride graduated from FSCC with an Associate of Science Degree in 2015 and graduated Summa Cum Laude at Southwestern Christian University with a Bachelor's in Exercise Science with a Sports Management concentration. In 2019 she obtained her Master's Degree in Education from Holy Names University.
