Red Raven Women's Basketball Team Celebrates Sophomores in 76-66 Victory Over Seward

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team celebrated their sophomores as they defeated the Saints of Seward County 76-66.  With the victory, the Red Ravens improved their overall record to 18-11 including a 14-9 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference games.  The 14-9 KJCCC record has Coffeyville currently in fifth place in the 13-team KJCCC Div I conference with one game left to play in the regular season.

The Coffeyville Women's Basketball players being celebrated as sophomores include Natorie Graham from Tulsa Oklahoma, Makenzie Davis from Tulsa Oklahoma, Kania Starks from Springdale Arkansas, Kennady Roach from Vinita Oklahoma, Jordynn Conner from Tulsa Oklahoma, and Cheyenne Banks from McLoud Oklahoma.

With the energy of the sophomore celebration surging through Nellis Gymnasium, the Red Ravens jumped out quickly on the Saints of Seward running out to a 21-13 lead after the first quarter and adding even more in the second quarter as Coffeyville led 42-27 at halftime.  Seward did close the gap some in the second half, but Coffeyville finished them off earning the 76-66 victory.

The Red Ravens had four players in double figures including sophomore Makenzie Davis with a career-high 18 points on 4/4 from the three-point line, sophomore Kennady Roach with 14 points, freshman Bailey Layman with 13 points, and freshman Kyleigh Ortiz with 11 points.  Sophomore Jordynn Conner was a monster on the boards tying her career high of 16 rebounds. 

Coffeyville will finish off their regular season as they travel to Goodland Kansas on Wednesday, March 1st to play the Mavericks of Northwest Kansas Technical College.  Tip-off in Goodland is scheduled for 6:30 pm.

Region VI Championship Playoffs

*The top 12 teams in the KJCCC Div I conference qualify for the Region VI Playoffs.  Of those qualifying 12 teams, the top 4 teams will receive First round-byes.  Therefore the first round matchups will see #5 host #12, #6 host #11, etc
