Pirates Down Red Ravens 61-53

Independence, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team traveled north to Independence KS, and found themselves on the losing end of the scoreboard 61-53.  In the loss, the Red Ravens' overall record falls to 15-11 including a 11-9 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference games.

No game is ever a "good" game to pick to have a cold shooting game, but the Ravens had one of their coldest games shooting-wise versus their cross-county rivals the Independence Pirates.  For the game, Coffeyville shot 29% (18-62) overall in the game including 26% (5-19) from behind the arc.  Even with the cold shooting, the Red Ravens were able to stay close for most of the game and actuall led at halftime 30-24.  However, the Ravens were outscored 20-7 in the third quarter and Coffeyville played from behind most of the second half as they eventually fell to the final score of 61-53.

Top performers for the Ravens in the game included sophomore center Cheyenne Banks who had a big 16 points 14 rebound double-double along with sophomore guard Kennady Roach who pitched in 16 points.

Coffeyville will return to action on Saturday, February 18th as they travel to Concordia Kansas to play the Cloud County Thunderbirds.  Tip-off in Concordia is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
