Lady Ravens Cold From 3-Point Line in 64-51 Home Loss to Cowley

Coffeyville, Kan. - After a couple of road games to start the new year, the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team returned home for their first home game of 2022.  However, the new year did not help as the Red Ravens fell to the Tigers of Cowley County 64-51.  With the loss, the Ravens' overall record moves to 12-5 on the season including a 6-5 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference mark.  The 6-5 KJCCC mark currently has Coffeyville sitting seventh in the thirteen-team KJCCC Division I conference standings.

The Ravens were looking for the season sweep of Cowley as the Ravens had defeated the Tigers in a close 69-62 matchup earlier in a November tilt.  However, in this game, the Red Ravens struggled in the first half on the offensive end only scoring six points in the first quarter and then only nine in the second quarter which resulted in Coffeyville trailing 20-15 at halftime in the low scoring affair.

The second half saw the Red Ravens mount a fourth-quarter comeback, outscoring the Tigers 26-22 in the quarter, however, the deficit was too large and Coffeyville fell to the Tigers 64-51.

The stat of the game against the Red Ravens was the 3-point shooting percentages, Cowley shot 10/24 for 41% while Coffeyville shot 2/17 for 11%.

Red Raven guard Nakia Cullom led Coffeyville with 14 points while guard Dariuana Carter pitched in 10 points.

Coffeyville will return to action on Wednesday, January 19th with a home game scheduled against the Broncbusters of Garden City Community College.  Tipoff in Nellis Hall is set for 5:30 p.m.
