Raven Women Earn Home Victory Over Neosho 78-64

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Women's Basketball Team put another W in the win column with a 78-64 defeat of the Panthers of Neosho.  The win marks the second in a row for the team and the seventh in the last 8 games.  Overall, the Red Ravens record is 10-3 including a 9-3 KJCCC conference mark.  The 9-3 conference mark has Coffeyville sitting in second place behind Butler (14-1) in the KJCCC East division.

The Red Ravens jumped out quickly on the Panthers in building a 16-10 first-quarter lead.  The second and third quarters are where Coffeyville was able to shine, scoring 27 points in each of the quarters.  Coffeyville went into halftime with a 43-29 advantage and to start the fourth quarter had a lead of 24 points at 70-46.  However, the fourth quarter proved a little dicey for the Ravens in that they went cold on the offensive end, only scoring 8 points in the fourth quarter.  Neosho at one point was able to cut Coffeyville's lead down to single digits, but Coffeyville was able to make some late shots and free throws that enabled the Ravens to earn the 78-64 victory.

Coffeyville had three players in double figures including sophomore Kaylin Lay with 13 points, freshman Martina Aeschliman with 12 points, and sophomore Faith Simpson with 12 points and 9 rebounds.

Coffeyville will return to action on Wednesday, March 17th with a road game to play the Cloud County Thunderbirds.  Tipoff in Concordia Kansas is set for 6:00 p.m.
