Furious Fourth Period Propels Red Raven Women's Basketball Over Cowley, 48-46

February 5, 2020

Through the first three-quarters of the game, the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven women's basketball team look to be stuck in the mud, however, an explosive fourth quarter pushed the Red Ravens to a home victory with a 48-46 defeat of Cowley College.  The victory was the Raven's twentieth on the season and extends their overall record to 20-5 and 10-5 in the KJCCC East.  The 10-5 East KJCCC mark has Coffeyville second in the East standings, one game behind Butler.

In a game where Cowley (34% FG%, 20% 3 pt% and 70% FT%) outshot the Ravens (30%, 12%, and 47%) the game came down to the fourth quarter and that is where the Ravens took over.   Starting the fourth quarter the Ravens were down 10 points to Cowley 25-35.  However, the Ravens almost doubled their first three-quarter output in the fourth quarter alone, outscoring the Tigers 23-11 in the fourth quarter to secure the two-point victory.

The Ravens were led by sophomores Faith Simpson and Ania Markowska who both posted double-doubles on the night.  Simpson posted a 15 point 14 rebound line while Markowska posted an 11 point 13 rebound performance.

Next up for the Ravens will be a Saturday road game to Concordia Kansas in a KJCCC East matchup against the Cloud County Thunderbirds.  Game Time is set for Saturday, February 8th at 2:00 pm.
