Red Raven Women's Basketball Season Ends with 78-61 Loss to Barton In Region VI Quarterfinals

Sometimes the ball just does not want to go in the hoop.  It was one of those nights for the Coffeyville Community College women's basketball team.  The #3 seeded Red Ravens fell to the #6 seeded Barton cougars 78-61 in the Region VI Quarterfinals in Dodge City.  The loss ends the Red Ravens season with an overall record of 25-7.

The game can be summed as simply as Barton shot 49% (23/47) from the field and Coffeyville shot 35% (22/63).

Coffeyville started out from the tipoff seemingly playing from behind.  Barely four minutes into the game, the Ravens were trailing 10-2 to Barton.  The Ravens played catch-up the entire game trailing 20-16 after the first quarter and a disastrous second quarter had the Ravens down 42-26 at halftime.

The second half did see Coffeyville fight back, pulling within seven points (62-55) with four minutes to play in the game.  However, the Ravens were not able to get any closer and Barton was able to make free throws done to the stretch to earn the 78-61 victory.

Sophomores Ania Markowska and Julia Calafell both had 13 points in the loss to lead the Ravens.
