Red Ravens Earn First Victory of Year in Home Split With Eastern Oklahoma State

Coffeyville, Kan. - In the first home game at Byers Field in over a year, the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Softball Team earned their first victory of the year with a 6-1 victory over Eastern Oklahoma State in the second game of the home doubleheader.  Coffeyville lost 6-3 in the opening game of the doubleheader.  With the split, the Red Raven's overall record moves to 1-16 including an 0-8 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) record.

Game #1 - Red Ravens 3  Eastern Oklahoma State 6

The Red Ravens were close in this one holding a 3-2 lead into the sixth inning, however, Eastern Oklahoma jumped ahead in the top of the sixth scoring four runs to take a 6-3 lead that the Red Ravens were not able to overcome.  

Offensively, sophomore third baseman Addison Beck led the way going 2 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI.  Sophomores Cherie Green and Madison Tadrus also had two hits in the game and sophomore Aryiel Herrera went 1 for 4 while driving in two.

Red Raven righty Aubrey Schroyer pitched the complete game going the full seven innings allowing six earned on eleven hits while striking out four.

Game #2 Red Ravens 6  Eastern Oklahoma 1

Coffeyville was hungry for a victory, and the second game of the day was finally what the Red Ravens had been hoping for.  Eastern jumped out quickly scoring one run in the top of the first, however, Coffeyville responded by scoring one in the bottom of the first along with one in the second, two in the third, and single runs in both the fifth and sixth.  Defensively, the Ravens were strong turning multiple double plays and not allowing Eastern another run after the first and Coffeyville was able to secure the 6-1 victory.

Coffeyville pounded out a total of twelve hits in the game with Addison Beck and Cherie Green both going 3 for 4 at the plate.

Coffeyville freshman righty Joslyn Airington pitched the complete game seven innings allowing one earned on eight hits while striking out three.

 

The Red Ravens will return to action on Thursday, March 31st with a home KJCCC matchup against Kansas City Community College.  Game times are set for 2:00 and 4:00 at Byers Field
