#17 Red Ravens Push Undefeated Mark to 7-0 with 4-0 Defeat of Pratt

Coffeyville, Kan. - The #17 NJCAA ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Soccer Team extended their undefeated mark to start the season to 7-0 with a 4-0 defeat of Pratt.  The win pushes the Red Ravens to an overall 2021 record of 7-0 including a 4-0 mark in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) games.  Coffeyville's 12 points in KJCCC play have them atop the KJCCC East standings.

The Red Ravens started the game by dominating possession and keeping Pratt deep in their own half. Coffeyville would create some early chances but the Beaver's goalkeeper did well to keep the game scoreless. Pratt looked to go forward quickly after winning the ball back from Coffeyville. The Beavers would also create chances of their own but the Red Ravens' backline was organized and aggressive. Red Raven freshman Rhys Thompson would break the deadlock with a fantastic finish off an Aleksandar Mihaylov assist. Thompson was not done there, he would add his second goal of the game just 15 minutes later. Freshman Richie Bailey headed Thompson a great ball into space. Thompson did the rest as he cut his defender back and smashed the ball past the Beaver's goalkeeper. The Red Ravens would go into halftime with a 2-0 lead over Pratt.

Coffeyville wasted no time coming out of the half. It took the Red Ravens just 1 minute to add their third goal of the night. Coffeyville sophomore Zedan Mutlu had a great first-time finish by slotting the ball past Pratt's goalkeeper and into the back of the net. Freshman Antonio Podstawski would wrap up the scoring for Coffeyville. In the 64th minute, Bailey dangerously drove the ball into the Beaver's 18-yard box. Pratt's defense was unable to stop him and instead made a dangerous challenge that resulted in a penalty kick for Coffeyville. Podstawski confidently grabbed the ball and headed for the penalty spot. Podstawski forced the Beaver's goalkeeper to drive the wrong way and buried his shot into the goal. The Red Ravens kept control of the remainder of the match without any issues. The final score finished 4-0 to Coffeyville.

This result makes it seven wins on the bounce for the Red Ravens. Coffeyville will turn their focus towards their biggest test of the season as they will host the 2019 National Champions Monroe College. Monroe is currently ranked #11 in the country. The NJCAA ranked matchup will take place at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday, September 24, with kick-off scheduled for 3 pm.
