Slow First Half Upends Red Ravens in an 81-62 Loss at Cowley

Arkansas City, Kan. - A sluggish first half for the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team proved to be the difference in the game as the Red Ravens fell to the Tigers of Cowley College 81-62.  With the loss, the Red Ravens overall record falls to 4-4 on the season including a 1-2 mark in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matchups.

The first half of this one was not good for the Red Ravens.  Coffeyville shot a combined 7/24 (29%) in the first half compared to 20/37 (54%) by Cowley.  Throw in 7 Coffeyville turnovers to Cowley's two and the Tigers built up a 50-22 halftime lead over the Ravens.  

Coffeyville fought hard in the second half and outscored the Tigers 40-31 in the second half, but the damage of the first half was too much to overcome and Cowley ended the game with the 81-62 victory.

Game leaders for Coffeyville included freshman forward CJ Smith with 13 points and 5 rebounds, freshman guard Jahni Summers with 13 points and 4 rebounds, and sophomore forward Izek Jackson with 8 points and 15 rebounds.

Next up for the Red Ravens will be a matchup against the #9 ranked Butler Grizzlies.  The Ravens will host the Grizzlies in Nellis Gymnasium on Wednesday, November 29th with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
