#17 Red Ravens Stumble in Last Regular Season Game Losing at NW KS Tech 81-77

Goodland, Kan. - The #17 NJCAA ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball team lost in their last regular season basketball game of the season to Northwest Kansas Technical College 81-77.  With the loss, the Red Ravens' overall record fell to 23-7 including a 17-7 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) games.

The Red Ravens were in a position where if they won their last regular season game they could be in a position to earn a share of the KJCCC conference title.  However, the Mavericks of NW KS Tech had something else to say about that.

Coffeyville started the game out pretty well holding a slim 18-17 lead midway through the first half.  Nonetheless, the Mavericks outscored the Ravens 26-17 to finish the half to put the Ravens in a 43-35 deficit at halftime.  Coffeyville fought back in the second half pulling even on the scoreboard at 60-60 with about seven minutes remaining in the game.  Over about the last three minutes of game time, NW KS Tech was able to just stay enough ahead of the Ravens by sinking nine made free-throws to hand Coffeyville the 81-77 defeat.

Game leaders for Coffeyville included freshman Landon Glasper with 15 points, sophomore Nathan Johnson with 12 points, and freshman Camian Shell with 10 points and 7 assists.

Even with the loss, the Coffeyville Red Ravens were able to secure the second seed in the upcoming 12-team Region VI Men's Division I Tournament.  With the #2 seed, the Red Ravens have earned a "Bye" in the first round of the tournament and will await the winner of the opening round matchup between #7 Pratt and #10 Seward.  Coffeyville will host the winner of the Pratt/Seward matchup on Tuesday, March 7th at 7:00 pm in Nellis Hall.
