Coffeyville, Kan. - The #8 NJCAA ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team defeated #22 Garden City Broncbusters 87-79.  With the victory, the Red Ravens extend their start to the 2022-23 season to a perfect 8-0 including a 2-0 start in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) contests.

Coffeyville opened the game a little sluggish allowing the Broncbusters of Garden City to build a 9-point 31-22 lead at the 6:20 mark of the first half.  However, Coffeyville woke up at that point finishing the half on an 18-2 run to take a 40-33 halftime lead.

In the second half, Coffeyville built a 21-point lead at 79-58 with just five minutes left in the game.  Garden City decided to not go quietly into defeat cutting the Red Ravens' lead down to just six 83-77 with just under a minute to play before the Red Ravens finished the game with some made free throws by freshman guard Camian Shell to finalize the 87-79 victory.

As a team, Coffeyville shot an overall 51% from the floor and a scorching 50% (10-20) from behind the 3-point line.

Game leaders for Coffeyville included freshman guard Sotirios Nafpliotis with 17 points (5-9 from 3), sophomore guard Nathan Johnson with 16 points, freshman forward Jordan Wildy with 13 points and 5 rebounds, and freshman forward Hayden Brittingham with 10 points and 8 rebounds.  Camian Shell led the Ravens with a game-high 13 assists. 

Coffeyville travels to the west end of Kansas over the Thanksgiving week as they will play Dodge City Community College in Dodge City Kansas on Tuesday, November 22nd with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 pm.  The Red Ravens will then travel to Colby Kansas to play the Trojans of Colby Community College on Saturday, November 26th with game time scheduled for 4:00 pm.
