Second-Half Comeback Falls Short, #16 Ravens Fall to Southern Ark Tech 78-74

Coffeyville, Kan. - The #16 Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team clawed their way back in the second half but fell just short in a 78-74 defeat to the Rockets of Southern Arkansas Tech.  With the loss, the Red Ravens' overall 2021-22 record falls to 3-3.

The tale of two halves.  The Red Ravens simply got themselves too far down a hole in the first half.  Coffeyville found themselves down 15 points (45-30) at halftime to the Rockets.  The Ravens shot 33% in the first half to Southern Arkansas' 50%.

The second half saw the Ravens shoot 43% and climb back into the game, outscoring SAU 44-33 in the second half.  However, the Ravens could not get the victory, falling short in the comeback, 78-74 overall.

The Ravens had four players in double figures with freshman Dayshawn Wiley leading the way with 22 points (hitting 7/11 from 3 point range), sophomore guard Love Bettis pitching in a line of 19 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists, and sophomore Deng Mayar and freshman Nathan Johnson both contributing 10 points each.  

Next up for the Ravens will be the opening of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) schedule as they will travel to Arkansas City Kansas to play the Tigers of Cowley College on Wednesday, November 17th.  Tipoff at Cowley is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
