#3 Iowa Central Scores Late TD to Down the Red Ravens 26-20

Fort Dodge, Iowa - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Football Team looked good in the first half jumping out to a 20-13 halftime lead, however, the #3 NJCAA-ranked Iowa Central Tritons scored 13 fourth-quarter points to down the Red Ravens 26-20.  With the loss, Coffeyville's overall record falls to 1-5 on the season.

Iowa Central opened the scoring in the game as they posted a 6-play 66-yard drive capped by a 5-yard touchdown run (missed extra point) to take an early 6-0 lead in the first quarter.  Later in the first quarter, Red Raven sophomore linebacker Rontravious Perry picked off the Triton quarterback and returned the interception 30 yards for the pick-six score.  Coffeyville missed the extra point and the game was tied 6-6.

Iowa Central opened the second quarter with another long drive (13 plays, 77 yards) that ended with a 1-yard touchdown run to take the 13-6 lead.  Just a few minutes later, Coffeyville answered with a long drive of their own (9 plays, 72 yards) capped off by Red Raven freshman tight end Brec Long's 1-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 13-13.  Geremiah Moore, the Red Raven red-shirt freshman quarterback, ended the second quarter with a 39-yard touchdown run to give Coffeyville a 20-13 halftime lead over the Tritons.

Unfortunately, that is where the Red Raven offense ended.  Iowa Central had a pick-six of their own midway through the fourth quarter to tie the game up at 20-20 and then scored a 2-yard touchdown run with 33 seconds left in the game to gain the victory 26-20.

Coffeyville will have a bye weekend on October 14th as their scheduled opponent Gordan's Fine Arts has canceled the remainder of their season.  Coffeyville will return to action on Saturday, October 21st as they will play Georgia Christian at 1:00 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
