The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven football team opened up their 2019 home schedule Saturday evening in Veteran's Memorial Stadium against the Greyhounds of Fort Scott Community College.  The Red Ravens were not able to get the victory and fell to the Greyhounds 29-40 and moved to 0-2 on the season.

Turnovers were the key to the game for the Red Ravens, five interceptions and a lost fumble for Coffeyville gave the Ravens a minus six turnover margin in the game and resulted in the second loss of the season.

The first half saw Coffeyville fall behind 34-7 at halftime and subsequently the Ravens were playing from behind the entire second half.  The Ravens did outscore the Greyhounds in the second half (22-6) but the first half deficit proved too large to overcome.

Offensivelly, the game was close with Coffeyville amassing 427 total yards to Fort Scott's 458 yards.  However, the time of possession in the game fell in favor of Fort Scott, 35 minutes to 24 minutes.

Cam Smith, sophomore from Delray Beach Florida, started at quarterback for Coffeyville and went 8 of 24 for 124 yards, 3 touchdowns (2 rush) and 4 interceptions.  Edwind Kleinpeter, sophomore from Baton Rouge Louisiana, also saw time at quarterback for the Ravens going 5 of 9 for 125 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception.

Tyrin Taylor, a freshmen receiver from Tomball Texas, scored the first touchdown of the night for Coffeyville on a 56 yard pass from Cam Smith.  The next couple of touchdowns for the Ravens were short touchdown runs from the quarterback Cam Smith.  Coffeyville's last score of the night was a another long pass (61 yards), this time from Kleinpeter to sophomore receiver Tyquez Hampton from Jacksonville Florida.

The Red Ravens hope to move into the win column in their third game of the season, a road game to Fort Dodge Iowa with a match up with the Iowa Central Community College Tritons.  The game is set for Saturday, Sept 7th at 12:00 pm.
