Red Ravens Play Home Games on Newly Renovated Walter Johnson Infield, Lose 2 to KCK

Coffeyville, Kan. - Talk about an extended road trip!  After 37 straight road games dating back to last year, The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Baseball Team was finally able to play some home games on the newly renovated Walter Johnson Infield.  Unfortunately, the Red Ravens were matched up against Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) foes Kansas City Kansas Community College who have one of the most potent offenses in the NJCAA.   The Red Ravens dropped both ends of the doubleheader 10-0 and 14-6.  With the two losses, the Red Raven's overall record falls to 9-13 including 2-6 in KJCCC play.

In a pregame ceremony, Marcy Taylor threw out the first pitch in recognition of the Infield renovation.  Ms Taylor is the mother of Conner Taylor who was a member of the 2015 Red Raven Baseball Team.  Following the passing of Conner, the Taylor Family established the Change 4 Conner Foundation.  It is because of the generous donation from the Taylor family and the Change 4 Conner Foundation that Coffeyville Community College has been able to facilitate the construction and completion of the Walter Johnson Infield Turf project.

In game action, KCK jumped out quickly in the first game scoring early on their way to the 10-0 victory.  Game #2 was a different story as the Red Ravens scored 6 runs in the second inning, thanks to hits from Red Ravens Adrian Dominguez and Nathon Cruz, however, the Blue Devils bats would not be silenced in the KCK 14-6 victory.

Coffeyville will be back in action on Thursday, March 21st with a home doubleheader at Walter Johnson Park against the Panthers of Neosho County.  Game times are set for 1:00 & 3:00 p.m.
