Red Raven Baseball Sweeps Baker JV in Home Doubleheader

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Baseball team swept the Baker University JV in a home doubleheader 8-1 and 16-6.  With the victories, the Red Ravens improve their overall record to 16-20 including a 4-12 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matchups.

Game #1 - Red Ravens - 8  Baker JV - 1 

Coffeyville scored two in the third inning and the JV Wildcats of Baker University scored an unearned run in the top of the sixth inning to pull within 2-1.  However, the Red Ravens scored six in the bottom of the sixth to successfully earn the 8-1 victory.

Red Raven sophomore center fielder Jack Bell went 2-4 in the game with two RBIs and freshman third baseman Tyler Gundelfinger went 2-3 with an RBI.  Freshman second baseman Carson Schrack and sophomore DH Quentin Platt both tripled in the game.

Freshman right-hander Ryan Leiker was on the mound for Coffeyville.  Leiker, who improved his record to 4-2 on the season, went six and a third allowing one unearned run on two hits while striking out four and walking one.

Game #2 - Red Ravens - 16  Baker JV - 6

The Red Ravens jumped out early scoring eight runs in the first and another five runs in the second to take a 13-2 score into the third inning.  Coffeyville scored another run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth to earn the run rule 16-6 victory after the fifth inning.

Raven sophomore righty Carlos Lopez earned the victory to improve his record to 1-2 on the season.

 

Coffeyville has added another home doubleheader to their schedule as they will again play the Baker University JV on Friday, April 7th at Walter Johnson Park.  Game times are scheduled for 1p/4p.
