Red Ravens Strand Two in Ninth in 6-4 Loss to NEO

Coffeyville, Kan. -  In a close game against cross-border rival NEO, the Red Ravens fell 6-4 to the Norseman.  The loss was the first of the season for the Red Ravens as their overall record moved to 4-1 on the early season.

In an exciting back-and-forth contest, the Red Ravens found themselves down early after NEO scored one in the first and two in the third to go ahead 3-0 over Coffeyville after three innings.  The Ravens chipped away on the scoreboard scoring one in the fourth and in the fifth to pull within 3-2 heading into the eighth inning.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Ravens were able to plate two runs to finally pull ahead 4-3 heading to the top of the ninth.  However, Coffeyville could not hold the lead as NEO scored three in the top of the ninth to pull back ahead 6-4.  Coffeyville was able to move runners to second and third in the bottom of the ninth but left those runners stranded as a long fly ball to center ended the afternoon for the Ravens with the 6-4 loss.

As the box score reads, NEO had six runs on nine hits and two errors while Coffeyville had four runs on nine hits and zero errors. Raven sophomore DH Ryan Ready had two hits and two RBIs in the game to lead the Ravens offensively.

Coffeyville will return to action this weekend as they will travel to Edmond Oklahoma to play in the University of Central Oklahoma Festival.  The Ravens are scheduled to play Seminole State on Saturday, February 18th at 5:30 pm and are then scheduled to play Colby on Sunday, February 19th at 10:00 am.
