Red Raven Baseball Battles This Upcoming Weekend for Home Field Playoff Advantage

The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Baseball Team will play the Fort Scott Community College Greyhounds this weekend in a 4-game series.  The Red Ravens will play at Fort Scott on Friday, May 6th with game times set for 1:00 and 4:00. The Ravens and Greyhound will then turn around and play on Saturday, May 7th in Fort Scott again due to field conditions in Coffeyville.  Game times are set for 1:00 and 4:00 on Saturday in Fort Scott.

The current Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) standings has Fort Scott (14-14 in KJCCC play) in the fourth position in the KJCCC East and Coffeyville (13-15) in the fifth slot.  The first round of the Region VI tournament is slated to be played May 11th through the 13th with the four top seeds in the KJCCC East hosting the 5-8 seeds from the KJCCC West.  The 5-8 seeds in the East will then travel to the top four placers in the West.  The first-round playoff series is a best of three games with single 9-inning games being played on each of the days (May 11-13th).  The eight schools that advance out of the Region VI first round will then move to a double-elimination tournament being held at Tointon Family Stadium in Manhattan KS, May 17-21st.

In order for Coffeyville to overtake Fort Scott for the fourth seed in the KJCCC East, and the ability to host a Region VI first-round series, the Red Ravens must win three out of the four games against Fort Scott this weekend.

In summary, if the Red Ravens pull three victories against Fort Scott this weekend, they would host a first-round series.  If they lose two or more against Fort Scott, Coffeyville would then travel for their first-round series.
