Ravens Split Home Doubleheader With Allen

Coffeyville, Kan. - In an afternoon doubleheader, the Coffeyville Red Ravens and the Allen Red Devils played a couple of close matchups with the Ravens losing game #1 by the score of 3-2 but then rebounding to win game #2 by the same 3-2 score.  With the split, Coffeyville's overall record moves to 20-17 including an 11-13 mark in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) games.  The 11-13 KJCCC mark currently has the Ravens in fifth in the nine-team KJCCC East division.

Game #1 - 3-2 Loss

In game #1, Coffeyville jumped out on top scoring single runs in the bottom of the first and third innings, however, Allen answered by scoring single runs in the fifth, sixth, and eighth innings to grab the 3-2 victory over the Ravens.

Coffeyville was only able to muster three hits in the game with sophomores Austin Gonzales and Drew Cates each hitting a double and freshman Jack Bell lining a single.

Left-hander Christopher Spry went the distance for Coffeyville allowing three runs on five hits while striking out four.

Game #2 - 3-2 Win

Game #2 saw the Red Ravens only get a single hit in the game, however, four walked and an error by Allen combined with some crafty baserunning allowed Coffeyville to escape with the 3-2 victory.

The Ravens pushed ahead in the seven-inning game in the bottom of the sixth with a sacrifice fly-out by freshman Jackson Mannix to score a run followed by a couple of stolen bases ending with freshman Jack Bell stealing home for the second run of the inning to put Coffeyville up 3-2 in the game.  The Ravens held the Red Devils in the top of the seventh to earn the 3-2 victory.

Sophomore righty Marcos Lopez went six and a third allowing two earned on four hits while striking out three and walking one.  Sophomore right-hander Jayden Quarles finished off the last two outs in the seventh allowing no hits and no runs.

Coffeyville returns to action on Monday, April 18th with a home doubleheader against the Oklahoma Wesleyan JV.  Game times at Walter Johnson Park are set for 1:00 and 3:30.
