Red Ravens Split Home Doubleheader Against #19 KCK

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Baseball Team squared off against the #19 NJCAA ranked KCK Blue Devils in an afternoon doubleheader.  The Ravens won the first game 2-1 but fell in the second game 16-4.  With the split, Coffeyville's overall record moves to an overall 14-14 including a 6-10 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) record.  The 6-10 KJCCC record currently has the Red Ravens in sixth in the nine-team KJCCC East division.

Game #1 - Win - Red Ravens 2  Blue Devils 1

Coffeyville sophomore left-handed pitcher Christopher Spry was the story in this one earning the complete-game 2-1 victory going seven strong on the mound while allowing one earned on three hits and striking out three.

Offensively, Coffeyville had five hits in the game and scored single runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.  Sophomore outfielder Austin Gonzales led the offense going two for three in the game.

Game #2 - Loss - Red Ravens 4  Blue Devils 16

The Ravens jumped out quickly in the bottom of the first scoring three to take the 3-0 lead after one, however, KCK scored six over the next four innings to take the 6-4 lead after five innings.  The Blue Devils would go on to score four in the eighth and six more in the top of the ninth to put the game out of reach.  

Coffeyville was able to manage six hits in the game with freshman right fielder Jack Bell going two for three with an RBI to lead the Ravens.

Coffeyville will be back in action with a home doubleheader scheduled for April 7th against the Cardinals of Labette Community College.  Game times at Walter Johnson Park are scheduled for 1:00 and 3:30 pm.
