Red Ravens Grab Two Victories in Home Doubleheader vs Allen

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Baseball Team earned two important victories over the Allen County Red Devils in a home doubleheader on Tuesday.  The Red Ravens got the 14-10 victory in game #1 and the slim 4-3 victory in Game #2.  With the two wins, the Red Ravens improve their overall record to an even 14-14 including a 6-8 KJCCC conference mark.  The 6-8 conference mark currently has the Ravens in 5th place in the nine-team KJCCC East division.

Game #1 - 14-10, 7-inning Win

The Ravens showed some resiliency in a game #1 victory that saw them give up five runs in the top of the first inning.  After the rough first inning, Coffeyville settled down and got the bats going to knock out 14 runs on 10 hits.

Red Raven sophomore first baseman Trey McClelland led the offense going 3 for 4 with 2 RBI's and scoring 3 runs.  Redshirt freshman right-hander Zacary Cushing was on the mound to start the game for the Ravens going 4 1/3 innings allowing 5 earned on 7 hits while striking out 5.

Game #2 - 4-3, 9-inning Win

Game #2 of the doubleheader was a pitching duel that came down to Coffeyville scoring a run in the bottom of the 9th inning for the win.

A trio of Ravens had two hits in the game including redshirt freshman Jayden Kay who went 2 for 4 with an RBI, freshman Orlando Gonzalez who went 2 for 4, and redshirt freshman Jackson Meyer who went 2 for 4 including a triple and 2 RBI's.  Freshman right-hander Scout Huggins started for Coffeyville going 5 strong while allowing 2 earned on 2 hits and striking out 2.

Next up for Coffeyville will be a road doubleheader on Thursday, April 15th to take on the Labette Cardinals.  Game times in Parson Kansas are set for 1:00 and 4:00 pm.
