Red Raven Baseball Opens Up KJCCC East Season With a Split at Highland

The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven baseball team traveled to Highland Kansas to play the Highland Scotties to open up their 2020 KJCCC East Conference schedule.  The Ravens split the doubleheader winning the first game 12-4 (7 innings) and losing the second 6-4 (9 innings).  With the split, the Red Ravens 2020 overall record moves to 5-10 and 1-1 in KJCCC East play.

Game #1

Coffeyville's offense came alive in game #1 with the Red Ravens scoring 12 runs on 12 hits while earning the 12-4 victory.  The Ravens scored 3 runs in each of the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings to put the game out of reach.   Coffeyville had seven players bang out a hit with freshman Quinton Carlberg (Lee Summit MO) leading the team with 3 hits including a home run and a double to drive in 3 runs.  Sophomore Easton Rindt (Salina KS) also homered in the game while collecting 3 RBI's on the day.  Redshirt freshman Jayden Kay (Billings MT) rounded out the Red Raven trifecta of players homering with a homer for himself along with 2 RBI's.

Red Raven sophomore Raymond Farrell (Tulsa OK) pitched 5 strong innings allowing 4 runs on 6 hits while striking out 7 and walking 5.  Sophomore Chance Crowley pitched the final 2 innings in relief not allowing a run or a hit while striking out 2 and walking 1.

Game #2

The result of game #2 swung in the bottom of the 6th inning when the Ravens gave up 3 runs to the Scotties in the 6-4 loss.  Coffeyville was ahead in the game 4-3 going into the 6th inning, but the 3 run bottom of the inning gave Highland the lead it needed to capture the victory over the Ravens.

Offensively, freshman Brett Kennett (Olathe KS) had two sacrifice flies that netted him 2 RBI's and Easton Rindt had a single and RBI in the loss.  

Redshirt freshman Frank Peterson (Warrensburg MO) was the starter for Red Ravens in game #2 going 6 innings, allowing 6 runs (5 earned) on 6 hits while striking out 5 and walking 1.

 

Next up for the Red Ravens baseball team will again be the Highland Scotties in a scheduled home doubleheader on Saturday, March 7th.  Game time at Walter Johnson Park in Coffeyville is scheduled for 1:00 and 3:00 pm.
