Growing up in a small town in a family of accomplished athletes, the Downing name has always carried weight in and around the state of Kansas. All four years in high school Delice started Varsity in Volleyball, Basketball and Softball, received a 1 Rating with her Clarinet Quartet, Delice (Licey) starred in many plays and musicals and was named Homecoming Queen her senior year. Delice graduated from Atchison High School in 1998 and signed a basketball National Letter of Intent scholarship to Coffeyville Community College. Downing became a three sport athlete at CCC, maintained a 3.4 grade point average, was named Homecoming Queen her sophomore year and loved every minute of it. Her freshman year playing volleyball Delice Downing was named Kansas Jayhawk 1st team All-Conference, 1st team All Region VI and Freshman of the Year in volleyball and in softball she was named All Kansas Jayhawk Conference Honorable Mention and was coached by our President Linda Moley! Downing’s sophomore year she was named again Kansas Jayhawk 1st team All-Conference, 1st team All Region VI and named MVP of the Conference. Delice graduated with Honors from Coffeyville in May of ‘99 and received a full volleyball scholarship to the University of West Alabama (UWA) where she continued to play volleyball for two seasons and one season of basketball. 
 
God places people in your path for certain reasons… After two years of teaching and coaching high school ball in northeast Kansas, Linda Moley who then was the Athletic Director for CCC and now our President got Delice Downing on the phone and the rest is HISTORY!
 
In 2004, Delice Downing became the Head Volleyball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director at Coffeyville Community College. She is still the Head Volleyball Coach and now for the past three years is the Director of Student Life.  In 14 years, Delice has a career record of 390-172 (.694) and is the all-time winningest coach in school history.
 
In 2015, Downing led the Ravens to a 33-10 overall record. She was named the KJCCC Coach of the Year. Downing coached her first, NJCAA 2nd team All-American in 2015 (Frances Taylor). Through her 14 years at Coffeyville Community College, Delice’s team has always maintained a 3.0 GPA or higher.The 2016 season proved another successful year for Downing as she led her team to a 38-4 record while reaching, for the first time in history, the NJCAA Tournament and being named Coach of the KJCCC. She coached two first team All-Americans (Carolina Machado and Daniela Santos). In 2017, Downing led her program to a 44-2 record while winning the KJCCC Tournament and winning Coffeyville’s first ever Volleyball NJCAA National Championship.  Downing was named NJCAA Coach of the Tournament and District M Coach of the Year. She had the pleasure of coaching 3 NJCAA All-Americans (1st team Daniela Santos, 1st team Adianez Rivera Reyes, Honorable Mention Talleyshia Morris) The Red Ravens finished ranked number 4 in the nation in the last poll.
 
In 2018, the Red Ravens captured their second consecutive NJCAA DII Volleyball national title in Charleston, WV, making their third national tournament appearance in school history. Coffeyville’s second national title win came in a dominating fashion, winning the national tournament without dropping a set.  The Red Ravens advanced to the national tournament as the No. 1 seed after winning the District N championship over Cowley in an epic five set match.  Finishing the season with a 40-3 record, the Red Ravens held the No. 1 spot in eight of the ten NJCAA DII polls this season. Coffeyville landed three players on the NJCAA DII All-America First Team - sophomore setter Dekyra Dennis, sophomore outside hitter Adianez Rivera Reyes, and freshman outside hitter Seliann Rodriguez. Downing was also paramount in the development of Adianez Rivera Reyes who was named the NJCAA Division II National Player of the Year. Downing raked in the awards in 2018 including NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championship Coach of the Tournament, NJCAA Division II Volleyball National Champion, The AVCA Two-Year College Midwest Region Coach of the Year, and the highest honor in Division II Volleyball the 2018 Tachikara NJCAA Division II Coach of the Year.
 
Downing lives in Coffeyville, KS with her fiancé Adrian Jackson and her greatest blessing and joys of her life, her children; daughter beautiful, little mini, Aah’lice (7) and handsome, loving son, Adrian, Jr (5), and her heavenly baby boy Dash, who passed away in July 2015.
 
“Being inducted into the Coffeyville Hall of Fame is such an honor and a blessing. I am humbled and moved to receive this award. To my mom, words cannot express how much I love you. You sacrificed so much for me and my brother. You put me around the most God Loving and God-Fearing people (grandma, aunts and uncles) and now I know that and believe that “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me” Delice said.
